The Barrie Lawn Bowling Club was first established in 1902, on property owned by the C.N.R. (later sold to the city of Barrie). The club operated continuously as the Allandale Lawn Bowling Club until moving indoors to the Barrie Sports Dome when the original property was sold by the city. Indoor play began during the summer of 2001. During the summer months the club operates as the Barrie Lawn Bowling Club from early May until late September. Bowling times are Mondays from 1:00 to 4:00 P.M., Tuesday evenings from 7:00 to 10:00 P.M. and on Wednesdays from 10:00 A.M until noon. As well volunteer club members conduct instruction and play for a group of blind bowlers on Thursday mornings. During the winter period, the club operates separately as the Barrie Area Winter Lawn Bowling Club with play each Monday and Wednesday from 1:00 to 3:30 P.M. The winter season runs from late October until the end of April. |
